Joss Stone Duet - First Play on Radio 2
Today, 4th of April, is a day to celebrate. Not only is it Lemar's Birthday, but his new single with Joss Stone was played for the very first time on BBC Radio 2.
'Someday We'll Be Together' was originally recorded by Johnny & Jackey in 1961, then the acclaimed version by Diana Ross & the Supremes was released in 1969. Lemar recorded a version for his album 'The Letter', recently released in October 2015. He then hooked up with longtime friend Joss Stone this year to re-record the track as a duet.
The pair have collaborated in the past, however 'Someday We'll Be Together' is their first single release. In 2006, Joss Stone featured on Lemar's track 'Anniversary' from the album 'The Truth About Love'.
Zoe Ball, who sat in for Ken Bruce, on the late-morning Radio 2 show called it "absolutely beautiful" and a "corker". The new single will be released on Friday 13th May. Listen again on BBC iPlayer. Listen from 2hrs 06mins.
